The ST-17 egg shell (meat product) colorimeter utilizes automatic calibration and boasts over 30 measurement parameters and 26 standard light sources. This egg shell colorimeter can automatically calibrate and eliminate gloss measurement, while simultaneously measuring 30 indicators such as whiteness and yellowness. It exhibits excellent repeatability and is certified by the metrology institute.

Eggshells come in various colors, including white, light brown, brown, dark brown, and green. Some people prefer red eggshells, while others favor green eggshells, believing them to have higher nutritional value. The color of an eggshell originates from the final processing stage of the egg within the reproductive tract of the hen - the pigment secreted by the uterus epithelium. For instance, porphyrin provides the brown color, while biliverdin gives the green hue. The specific pigment secreted primarily depends on the genotype of the hen. Additionally, it is influenced by acquired factors such as the hen's diet and health. The age and health status of the hen also exert a certain degree of influence on the color of the eggshell.
